57: The Internet

This morning after dropping my daughter off at school, I tuned in YouTube on my iPhone in my car to listen to a talk by Gary Vaynerchuk on How to Do Real Estate Marketing in 2019. First stop a doctor's appointment. Thereafter, I drove to a property I was scheduled to show (I am a Realtor) a buyer client. I arrived an hour early, so I opened up my MacBook Pro in my car to work on posting a new listing live online. Mission accomplished.

The internet has really transformed our world. Remarkable to think that GOOGLE was born in 1988. Internet use started to pick up steam in the 1990s. The first iPhone showed up in 2007. Now Wifi is nearly everywhere most people go. And just about everyone you know has a smart phone.

A grew up without the internet. Without a phone. It's almost hard to imagine in today's wired world. We almost take the internet for granted these days. Listening to Gary Vaynerchuk this morning in the car (over my iPhone via my internet connection), I was reminded what a huge disrupter the internet is. It is taking away so much of the middle, putting A directly in touch with B.

It's interesting to think about what the future holds. Meanwhile, it's worth marveling again at the internet. Truly extraordinary. Likely the most extraordinary invention of my lifetime.
