135: Peter, Paul and Mary

As Wikipedia notes, Peter, Paul and Mary were an American folk group formed in New York City in 1961, during the American folk music revival phenomenon. The trio was composed of tenor Peter Yarrow, baritone Noel Paul Stookey, and contralto Mary Travers. The group's repertoire included songs written by Yarrow and Stookey, early songs by Bob Dylan, and covers of other folk musicians. They were enormously successful in the early- and mid-1960s, with their debut album topping the charts for weeks, and helped popularize the folk music revival.

I never tire of listening to Peter, Paul and Mary. Check out this performance of "Early Morning Rain" from 1966:

The analysis video below of Peter, Paul and Mary really brings home how incredible they are:

Mary Travers passed away in 2009. She is forever alive in this incredible performance below from the Newport Folk Festival in 1965:

Thanks to Apple Music, I am walking around with access to Peter, Paul and Mary's music at all times in my phone. Amazing! Such a gift. Enjoy it.
